Imagine never having to mow your lawn again. Swedish premium gardening brand Husqvarna is proud to introduce the world’s first solar/electric hybrid robot lawnmower.

The new Husqvarna Automower™ Solar Hybrid is powered by innovative and groundbreaking technology that combines solar power and electricity.

“This will take Automower to the next level with higher performance and further reduced environmental impact” says Bengt Andersson, CEO Husqvarna Group. He continues, “90% of Automower is recyclable, it eliminates the need for fertilizers, it is almost silent, has no exhaust emissions at all and delivers perfect results every time without you having to lift a finger.”

The new Automower Solar Hybrid is the next stage in the evolution of the lawnmower. It meets the changing demands of customers who want to minimize their impact on the environment but still want to enjoy a professional looking garden and have enough time to enjoy it with family and friends. Automower Solar Hybrid uses only the same amount of energy as a standard light bulb and is constructed from 90% recyclable material. It’s also been calculated that using Automower Solar Hybrid to cut the lawn in an average garden can save 40 hours of labour every year – the equivalent of an extra week’s holiday.


“This is a glimpse of what gardening will be in the future, allowing home owners to spend more time with family and friends, while still achieving perfect results,” says Towe Ressman, head of design for the Husqvarna Group.

Husqvarna has been producing robotic lawnmowers since 1995. They work by cutting the grass with small blades in an irregular pattern to leave a perfect finish. The method of cutting leaves a fine mulch which doesn’t need raking and acts as a fertiliser for the lawn. An easily laid boundary cable defines the desired cutting area. The same cable is used to protect flowerbeds and other areas to be avoided. The boundary cable also helps Automower to find its own way back to its charging/base station.

Automower Solar Hybrid builds on Husqvarna’s many years experience in developing previous versions of its smart robotic mowers and the positive experience of more than 50,000 people worldwide who are currently using and enjoying the benefits of Husqvarna Automower.

Automower Solar Hybrid has been designed at the Husqvarna global design centre in Sweden and is manufactured in Aycliffe, England.
